In a significant development in the Pune Porsche accident case, the father of the 17-year-old boy accused of causing the deaths of two 24-year-old engineers has been arrested in connection with a driver abduction case. Following a decision by the Pune District Court, the Pune Police were granted custody of the accused father, who has now been placed in judicial custody at Yerwada Jail.
The police have reported that the original blood sample of the teenager, involved in the fatal accident, was allegedly discarded in a dustbin. This tampering is part of a broader investigation into the manipulation of blood test results to protect the minor from allegations of drunk driving.
In addition to the father's arrest, the investigation has led to the apprehension of several other individuals, including the minor’s grandfather, a doctor, and hospital staff. These individuals were brought before the Crime Branch for questioning.
The police have detained three suspects in the blood sample manipulation case until May 30. The suspects include Dr. Atul Ghatakmalbe, a colleague at Sassoon Hospital, and Dr. Ajay Taware, head of the department of forensic medicine, alongside chief medical officer Dr. Srihari Halnor.
Pune Police officials have revealed further arrests related to the tampering of the teenager's blood sample. Among the new detainees is Atul Ghatkamble, an employee at Sassoon Hospital.
Previously, the Pune Crime Branch had arrested two doctors from Sassoon Hospital, Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Srihari Halnor, for allegedly falsifying the blood test results of 17-year-old Vedant Aggarwal. The arrests were made after it was discovered that the minor’s blood sample had been replaced with that of a non-alcoholic individual, with the original sample being disposed of in a dustbin.
This unfolding case continues to expose a network of individuals involved in the attempted cover-up of the fatal accident caused by the underage driver.
